To get a permanent fix for the “class not registered” chrome.exe problem in windows 7, you should follow the following steps as mentioned below:

• Firstly, close your Chrome browser and delete all shortcuts on your taskbar. Make sure that no shortcut is left out!

• Then search for your chrome application file on your disk. For example, usually it is stored in: C:Program Files (x86)GoogleChromeApplication

• Now, create a new shortcut icon for Chrome.exe file

• Right click on that shortcut icon and open its properties • Now, in the target path add, C:windowsexplorer.exe as a prefix

• Click on Apply, and then OK • You can now pin the shortcut to your taskbar • And then run Chrome.exe without any error
