Cannot Open Folder on Mac

I have a problem on my Mac computer. First I cannot put any folder on the desktop and the folders that are already on the desktop, I can’t open them. When I double click I get an error as shown below.

I am new to the Mac world so any help will be appreciated.

Hi Robert

The answer to your problem is, by pressing shift key for a force restart so that you could check  your disk.

The problem is that the finder is bugged. Doing this may as well solved your problem. And also you can do a quick scan and system restore to the time you have not received those error.
