Hi. I need a tutorial on how to use Windows Live Movie Maker. I would like to make a short video with effects and title. How do I combine a JPEG image with an MPEG video clip and an mp3 audio file? What would be the output file? Thanks.
Can someone teach me how to use Windows Live Movie Maker?
Hi Claraj,
Windows Movie Maker is a pretty simple program to use as long as your pictures and audio files are ready then you’re good to go.
However it will take us a lot of time to put here everything that you need to learn. My recommendation is to play around with the software first to get familiar with the environment and from there ask us where and what is difficult. In this way it would be easy for you to follow our instructions.
Here is a PDF file to get you started.
Also, your files from Movie Maker can be saved as WMV, AVI, MP4 etc.
So you can choose whatever works for you.
Keep us posted!

Like in different editions, the Windows Movie Maker available in one version of Microsoft Windows is almost the same with other editions of the operating system. Creating your own movie using this tool is very easy. You can either use an already saved video from your computer or import the video directly from your video device like in a portable video camera. To start it up:
-
Open Windows Movie Maker by clicking Start then All Programs.
-
To attach a video, click “Capture from video device” if the video will be coming from your video camera recorder. It will automatically detect your device. Or select “Import video” if the video clip is stored on your computer. During the import, it will automatically split the video into several clips depending on the scenes detected.
-
To attach a photo, click “Import pictures”. You can also attach audio or music files by clicking “Import audio or music”.
-
Arrange the clips as well as the images on the Storyboard located at the bottom of the interface by dragging each clip on each slot.
-
After that, under Finish Movie, click “Save to my computer” if you want to save your video to your computer. Enter the name of the video and the location where you want to save it and then click Next all the way then Finish.
Additionally, you can also save the video to a CD, send as attachment in email, share it on the web, or send it to a DV camera. To understand it further, watch the video “How To Use Windows Live Movie Maker”.
