You can follow the following steps in order to speed up Magento. Swap Apache for NginX or Litespeed, reduce web server logging and disk writes, and also you may follow the advice given by Yahoo! YSlow and Google Page Speed, make use of CDN ( eg: Rackspace Cloud Files with OnePica module), prefer compiling MYSQL from source instead of your OS’s package manager.
