I can suggest 3f freeware CD/DVD burning applications that are not as bloated as Nero.

1.  ImgBurn is a powerful and probably the most popular freeware DVD burning software.  It has a lot of advanced features but it might be a little intimidating to basic users.

2.  Burn Aware Free is another popular choice with a much better interface than ImgBurn.

3.  CD Burner XP is similar to Nero in its ease-of-use.

Since you are already accustomed to Nero, then I suggest you try out CD Burner XP.  You can look up the above applications for you to decide which one is best for your needs.  Anyway, those are all free.

Maybe the problem is not with your Nero application but with your system itself. If you have a very low RAM installed on your computer like 512 MB or maybe lesser, then you really need to upgrade your system. Having a very low RAM on your computer would really make your application to work very problematic. Add more RAM to your computer to improve its performance. You may also check your Nero’s system requirements so you will know what other parts of your system needs upgrading.

You may also try uninstalling your Nero then restart your computer. Then after that, check your computer for any possible errors. Use a disk utility application to check the system. Next, install the application again. This will fix any corrupted files in the installation and restores its settings back to default. If your version of Nero really doesn’t work right, try installing Cyber Link DVD Suite.
