Assistance in troubleshooting DVD driver

Hello, Tomo-san here! Please assist me for I am having trouble with my new set of DVDs and the movies I’ve downloaded from the web. My DVD driver could read the title of the movies, but when I tried to play them with either media player or VLC media, it just won’t work.  My DVD driver works well with CDs though,  but it would not play well when I tried to open the Football Manager games. The DVD driver had a notice message that the “device is working”, but it does not really work! What are the steps to make DVD driver work well, so I could make the best use of the DVDs, CDs and downloaded files I have. Thank you.

Assistance in troubleshooting DVD driver

Hi Barclay

The DVD drive may have trouble reading the DVD because the DVD is not in good condition. Take a look at the under side of the DVD, do you see any scratches or stains. Use a clean cloth and spirit to clean the DVD and then insert it into the DVD drive and check whether it reads this time.

If your DVD is indeed scratched so much here is a technique that might make it readable. Apply a tiny bit of oil of any kind and wipe it with a clothes or cotton so that it spreads over the surface of the DVD. This might help laser light reflect off the optical surface.

Last option is to clean the laser lens in the DVD drive. This can only be done by an experienced person.
