Hello,

Today I made some updates to my Windows 7 and my sound card stopped to work. I tried to reinstall it and the install was stopped because of this error. Can anyone help me to fix this error? How can I prevent this error to happen again when I will make new updates?

Thanks!

Your computer will still continue to work even without a soundcard but of course, you obviously need it for the entertainment part so you can play music and watch videos. If this error happened after a Windows update, the package must have damaged or deleted some configurations. Try doing this, completely uninstall your soundcard and if possible delete its driver as well.

Restart your computer then click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and click Disk Cleanup. Select drive C and click OK. Check “Temporary files”, click OK then click Delete Files to confirm. Restart your computer again. Next, try updating your operating system again using Windows Update. Install any available update then restart your computer. Once your system is updated again, try installing your soundcard back and it should work this time.

Since you are on Microsoft Windows 7, it would be a good idea to update to Service Pack 1 and because this is also the latest Service Pack for this version. Download it from Windows 7 Service Pack 1 [KB976932]. This is the offline installer for the Service Pack 1 package so you have a chance to save it on your hard drive instead of running the whole installation online.

Once Service Pack 1 is installed, go to your soundcard’s official website and download the latest driver for Windows 7.
