Acrobat 9 Extended, I am unable to “stick” commenting tools

I apologize I’m really new to this. While using Acrobat 9 Extended, I am unable to “stick” commenting tools, for example the Rectangle. It makes me reselect them. I can get the pencil tool to “stick” is there a method to get any other tools to “stick” like this?

Furthermore can single-key shortcuts be defined to different tools?

Hi!

In order for your comments to stick to your .pdf document, you need to enable the commenting and markup tools in Adobe.

You can do this by going to Comments – Enable for Commenting and Analysis in Acrobat Reader. Once that’s done, you’ll need to save a copy of your pdf document.

Also, it’s possible that the pdf document you have open is a dynamic pdf which doesn’t allow commenting. For more information on dynamic and static pdf files, click on the link:

To use single key shortcuts for several tools, follow the steps below:

1. Choose Edit at the menu bar and select Preferences.

2. Go to General under Categories.

3. Look for the Basic Tools section. This should contain an option that says Use single-key accelerators to access tools.

Check out this page for a list of shortcut keys:
