Access 2010 database opens in read-only mode. This problem occurs if you have the database opened somewhere else.

Method 1

Close the database if it is open somewhere else or ask the person who uses it on some other device to close it. If the database is using files and the files are opened, it may throw the error.

Method 2

This method has done wonders for me.

a. Open Access.
b. Select the Database and click on the drop-down in the open option.
c. Select the read-only mode.
d. Close the database. Do not close Access.
e. Open the database normally.

Method 3

a. Open Database.
b. Go to Properties.
c. Open Security.
d. Take ownership of the database.

Method 4

If you are using a shared folder or someone has given the database access to you, then there can be a restriction on the database. Remove the restriction to continue using the database.
