I have a Dell laptop. When I boot into my PC and encounter the following error – a disk read error occurred. Pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete did not help, as mentioned. Please help me.
Setting a correct boot order will fix the error that you are facing (a disk read error occurred).
Method 1
a. Turn on your PC.
b. Press F12 to go to BIOS.
c. If it does not work, search in the browser to go to BIOS, mentioning your model as the step differs.
d. Open the Boot tab.
e. Set your hard disk that has the OS at the top of the list.
f. Press F10 to save and exit.
g. Your device will start.
h. The error will disappear.
Method 2
a. Go to the BIOS as said in the previous method.
b. Open the Exit tab.
c. Select the option “Load Setup Defaults.”
d. Click on the appropriate button to save the settings.
e. Restart your device.
f. If you do not find it in the Exit tab, please look for default settings in other tabs.
It may happen your hard disk is corrupted if the above methods do not work. You should contact a technician in that case.
