Hi TechyV buddies,
I am having some problem loading a website using safari in OSX. Every time I open or load vimeo video, an error 404 always appears in the page. Â If I use flash to run the video, it works well with it.
Â
However, when I use HTML 5 player it doesn’t work. I think there is incompatibility with the version of OSX and Safari that I am using. I am using OSX 10.6.8 and safari 5.1.5. Can anyone help me fix this problem? I would really appreciate the effort in solving this.
Â
Thank you.
404 error loading video using safari in OSX
Hi,
I was trying to solve and problem, and I got something. I found a corrupted list file that blocks Safari from loading Vimeo videos. Safari only shows the 404 error message. So, to fix the problem, in your home Library folder, go to Safari > Extensions, and you will see the file Extension. List will be there. Move it to trash and quit Safari.Â
Â
Reinstall Safari and enjoy the Vimeo video on Safari.
Â
I think your problem has been solved.

Hi Otis,
Here is what you can do:
Reinstalling may be an option, however this can cause issues with setting up Safari again.
This was known to have issues with a corrupted Plist file that is blocking for Vimeo to play. You can go to the Library folder > Safari Extensions and then check the YouTube5.safariextz is in the list. If you found it, move it to trash and then reopen Safari. Then try to play Vimeo videos again.

404 error is one of the very common error on the Internet. It means, connections is not able to establish between you and the server you are trying to access. Anyway, my recommendation go this Techyv another page and get more idea.
