I just started using Dynamics CRM 2011. In fact, I just installed it today. When I attempt to open MS Dynamics CRM Deployment Manager, I received an error  “Unable to obtain DNS hostname of Active Directory domain controller with ntdsa object name.” followed by some exception stack trace.

When I close the error box above, I got another error telling me that “MMC has detected an error in a snap in and will unload it.” It has two options to choose to. The first one is to report the error to Microsoft and the second one is to unload the snap-in and continue. I found some similar issues but I don’t know which one is the best to fix this. Can someone help?

The Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) authentication server does not work. This server acts as the Active Directory domain controller as well as a global catalog and it also populates the accounts cache. I did a test connection which is successful on “Start TLS” and on “encrypted.” Is it possible to use LDAP without running into any problem? It does not require any authentication but whenever I enter information in the base DN, I get the following error messages: ‘Filter error or invalid base DN.’ If I delete the base DN, it is possible to save the information.

I know my base DN is right because I have verified it many times.

What could be wrong here?

Please help.

Good day to everyone! We are currently using Active Directory in our project and I’m learning it for the first time. In the previous project we search for persons using LDAP. If the person has a specific value for an attribute then he is capable of performing specific actions within the application. This above was quite easy, but now I have to setup an environment with Active Directory myself which I’m not quite familiar with. My goal is to make computer users log-in to Windows with their accounts which is considered as Windows user and group management, isn’t it? Also, can I assign attributes to those users too? Thanks to those who can help.

I’ve been using unRAID Server since Beta 5 and the AD combination works just fine (other than the periodic lost permissions). But due to some circumstances today, the server lost connection with AD and keeps getting this error in syslog whenever I try to get it to join:

"Jan 5 13:42:16 Tower logger: Failed to join domain: failed to lookup DC info for domain 'XXXX-XXXX.COM' over rpc: Logon failure

Jan 5 13:42:24 Tower logger: Failed to join domain: failed to lookup DC info for domain 'XXXX-XXXX.COM' over rpc: Logon failure

Jan 5 13:42:33 Tower logger: Failed to join domain: Failed to set account flags for machine account (NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED)”

Hi, my company is currently having problems with our unRAID Server 4.5.6 Pro.

Our company uses Active Directory and security models from AD.

The problem is, every time we restarted unRAID Server, and the server is not considered by the system as a member of the AD.

Before I can rejoin the AD, I have to go through the process of editing the file path: “etc/samba/smb-names.conf.”

And I had to manually set the work group to the name of our AD.

Else, I keep getting errors in the syslog and could not join the AD.

Can anyone tell me what to do to keep the unRAID Server in the AD?

Please help me.

Hello everyone,

I need your help in answering these questions of mine. How do I export usernames and passwords in clear text format from Luminis LDAP?

The employees at my company are currently using Active Directory for authentication purposes via Luminis. Is there any other ways for a user to change his/her password in Luminis and at the same time can update his/her password in Active Directory?

Please give me your answers.

I really need help.

I am looking help to add users in Domain controller. I have never used it before. But the problem is I am not able to access the ADUC and an error message comes which says that ‘The server is not in operational mode. So it is not able to locate the naming information.’ The Event ID is 1000 which shows in the event viewer. I think it may be due to the DNS problem.

Please help me to solve this problem.

Thanks in advance.

A lot of tools are available in finding old users and machine accounts in Active Directory, but I think it is even harder to develop a tool for finding old security groups. I can see that using the tool would make you scan the entire file servers so as you can compile a database of used groups then compare it against Active Directory to see if there are still remaining unused groups. Nonetheless this is still the tool that my company could use. Does anyone know a tool similar to this?
