I need some suggestions of you in a problem that I currently have.  As I’m currently having an acer aspire and I have windows XP in it, I faced a problem while using arcsoft total media 3.5 in it. When I open it, I keep the message “device is not available or is in use by another application”..

To find out the real problem, I disabled and enabled all the services again. When I disable it, video works great but without sound. Because computer its self is having no sound. I would like to know if there is any way to turn on the audio through partition of the hard drive and installing another XP or linux which may enable the sound drivers.

Please give me suggestions if you have any. I would be greatly grateful.

Problem in Arcsoft using Windows XP

Hello Toby!

For my own concern for your problem, I think it will be more complicated if you will create another partition and install another OS on it, just to enable the sound or the audio drive. Imagine that you have installed your Arcsoft application on your Windows XP OS, then how may it be possible to access this application to other OS?

My suggestion is, focus on fixing the audio settings in its own OS. Try different applications that locates or identify which or what driver is malfunctioning. Maybe the driver is outdated, incompatible or damaged. Try to update or reinstall its driver. If it's working properly, then switch to identifying the problem in its hardware configuration.
