Help on a few changes on my desktop

For beginners, changing something or anything on the computer would be like a big challenge for them. But for advanced users, changing something on the computer is like only playing clicks. For Windows XP, here are some ways of customizing your system. To change the theme used by your computer, right-click any blank area on the screen then select Properties.

In Display Properties window under Themes tab, select your desired theme or skin in the dropdown menu then click Apply then OK. See image.

Changing the theme or the skin changes the overall appearance of the desktop. These includes the Start button, active and inactive windows, the message box or the dialog box, the color, resets the sound used by Windows if you set one, and the Start menu. This is great if you are already sick with the way your desktop looks. See image.

If you only want to change the wallpaper but not the theme used, repeat the step above and then in Display Properties window select Desktop tab. You will see the present wallpaper used under Background. To change it, click Browse, locate and select the image you want to use, click Apply then OK. See image.

You may also change some of the major icons displayed on your desktop. To change the desktop icons, go to Display Properties window again then select Desktop tab. Click Customize Desktop at the bottom. In Desktop Items window, select the present icon used, click Change Icon, select your desired icon then click OK all throughout. See image.
