My computer is Windows XP operated. I feel Windows XP is too obsolete and I want to upgrade it to Windows 8 and I don’t know how to go about it. What parameters should I consider while doing this without causing any problems to my computer? And are there hardware parts that I need to also need to change as I try to upgrade my computer to Windows 8 from Windows XP to help my computer function normally and efficiently? The computer has 2GB RAM, 320GB hard disk capacity, system 32-bit.  I desire to do this probably via internet since I have no windows 8 CD for the upgrade.  I would also like to know whether I’m obliged to purchase Windows 8 during the upgrade.

1. Download and run ‘Windows 8 Upgrade assistant’ to check the system meets the requirements for Windows 8. For running this, you need to have install Windows XP service Pack 3 (SP3).

2. Minimum system requirements:

Processor: 1 Gigahertz or higher

RAM: 1 Gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)

Free hard disk space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)

Graphics Card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver Above are the minimum required configuration for installing windows 8 OS in system. Higher the configuration betters the quality.

Recommended configurations:

Clock Speed: 2.4 GHz or higher with Intel core i3/i5/i7 processor

RAM: 3GB DBR3 or higher

Storage: 300GB

Graphics Card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver

You can buy Windows 8.1 or Windows 8.1 pro disc. Inside the package 2 discs are available. A 64 bit windows installation disc and 32 bit windows installation disc. Find out whether PC is capable to rum 64 bit windows XP.

Step 3: Insert the Windows 8.1 DVD Insert the DVD, shutdown the system, restart the system, press any key to boot from the DVD.
