Will IPhone 5 have NFC capabilities

This may be bit of a technical question but I was wonder if iPhone 5 will have NFC. This is a short range wireless technology that allows secured communication of information and I was hearing rumors that it will be enabled on the IPhone 5.

Dear Silvia,

No one can know for sure what Apple will put into the next iPhone because they haven't released any press conference to announce what will be the new features of the iPhone 5.

All people can do now is guess and follow rumors that are spreading faster and faster. This rumor, that Apple might implement NFC into their iPhone has been going around for at least 2 years now, since the first Android phones began to adopt it. Now more and more smartphones have this technology so it seems even likelier that Apple will not let their guard down and catch up with their rivals.

During the last month there have been ups and downs regarding this issue alone, so understand that I can't give you a clear answer. All i can say is that if Apple won't implement it this year, then it might be too late for them with iPhone 6. By then it won't be such a mind-blowing feature – the way Apple likes to call their improvements (even minor). So the figures are pointing to this year.

We'll just have to wait and see what Apple and the next generation iPhone will bring us.

Unfortunately, this phone doesn’t support NFC. It has Bluetooth, GPS, and Wi-Fi but no NFC and no stereo FM radio either. The Apple iPhone 5 is a 4G Smartphone operating on 2G, 3G, and 4G network bands using GSM, CDMA, HSPA, EVDO, and LTE technologies. It was unveiled to the public and released on September 2012 measuring 123.8 x 58.6 x 7.6 millimeters and weighing 112 grams.

It uses nano-SIM card and has LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display with 16M colors at 640 x 1136 pixels screen resolution. It supports multi-touch protected with Corning Gorilla Glass with oleophobic coating. It ships with iOS 6 upgradable to iOS 10.2 powered by Apple A6 chipset, 1.3 GHz Dual-Core Swift (ARM 7-based) processor, and PowerVR SGX 543MP3 (triple-core graphics) GPU. microSD is not supported.

It runs on 1 GB DDR2 RAM with internal storage available in 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB capacities. The primary camera supports 8 megapixels with f/2.4, 33mm, LED flash, and autofocus featuring face detection, panorama, 1/3.2″ sensor size, 1.4 µm pixel size, HDR (photo), touch focus, and geo-tagging. It can record video in 1080p at 30 fps.

The secondary camera supports 1.2 megapixels with f/2.4 and 35mm and can record video in 720p at 30 fps featuring FaceTime over Wi-Fi or Cellular and face detection. It has 3.5-millimeter jack featuring 16-bit/44.1kHz audio and active noise cancellation with dedicated mic, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n with dual-band and hotspot support, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP and LE support, GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS support, and USB 2.0 reversible connector.

It doesn’t have stereo FM radio. It has built-in accelerometer, proximity, compass, and gyro sensors. The preinstalled Safari web browser supports HTML5. Java is not supported. It runs on non-removable 5.45 Wh Li-Po 1440 mAh battery with standby time up to 225 hours both on 2G and 3G. Talk time is up to 8 hours both on 2G and 3G. It is available in black/slate and white/silver colors.
