Cleaning the inside of my computer’s case

I came to notice that my computer’s fan is dusty to a point you can plant on it. I want to clean my computer but don’t know how to start. Can I use wet wipes to clean the insides? What should I touch and not touch?

Cleaning the inside of my computer’s case

It is necessary to clean the computer after a particular interval of time so that its fan and other system may work properly.

No please don’t uses any wet wipes because it may create problems for you. I will suggest you not to use anything wet, it can be of serious harm.

I will suggest you to use a blower for this purpose. A blower blows the air at high speed which removes every dust particles. A blower is best suited for this purpose. But don’t use it when your computer is hot just let it cool and then use blower. Hope it may help you

Cleaning the inside of my computer’s case

Hello Isla.

Here's how I go about cleaning the inside of my CPU chassis with a vacuum cleaner:

1.  Take out all add-on cards (PCI, PCI-E, AGP, etc.).

2.  Disconnect hard drives, floppy drives, CD/DVD drives.  I clean those separately with a clean, dry cloth.

3.  Disconnect all case fans and unscrew from CPU chassis.  I clean the fans with a clean, slightly damp cloth.

4.  Except for the hard drive, floppy drive and power cables, all the wires from my motherboard to my CPU chassis front panel are left as is.

5.  I remove the CPU fan (not the heatsink) and clean it with a clean, slightly damp cloth.

6.  I clean the insides with a vacuum cleaner using a small paint brush to lightly brush the motherboard to loosen any dust particles for the vacuum cleaner to suck out.  I clean the add-on cards the same way as the motherboard.
