Problem with Fedora and VMware

I have been trying to install Fedora 13 on VMware, but I have always been getting this error message.

Error:

Fedora1321321 – VMware Workstation

Guest operating system 'fedora' is not supported.

Please select a guest operating system from the General page on the Options tab of Virtual Machine Settings.

OK

I want to know if Ferdora OS is supported by VMware? If yes, how can I fix this problem?

Problem with Fedora and VMware

Currently, VMware does not support Fedora. Lists of supported Guest OS are as under:

It is evident from the lists that VMware does not support any version of Fedora.

Problem with Fedora and VMware

Fedora is not officially supported guest OS by VMware, but here is how to get it install:

1.  Do not use "Easy Install".  Select "I will install later…"  Otherwise, VMware will automatically detect Fedora and you will be stuck with the error screen again.

2.  Create the virtual machine and choose "Other Linux 2.6.X kernel" (if your Fedora version is 32-bit) or "Other Linux 2.6.X kernel 64-bit" (if you have the 64-bit version of Fedora) as the OS type. 

You will be able to install Fedora, but you will not be able to install VMware tools.  To get VMware tools to install, here are the steps:

1.  Open a Terminal.  Login as root by typing "su", pressing ENTER and typing the root password when prompted.

2.  Use the following command: yum install kernel-devel kernel-headers gcc mkinitrd

You may now install VMware Tools normally.  Check your VMware manual or help files for instructions on how to install and use VMware Tools.
