Recently, I started using Microsoft Outlook to manage my e-mail. A new message arrived to my inbox and I got back reported error 0x80004005. How can I fix it?

Fixing Reported Error 0x80004005 In Outlook.

The main cause of this error might be the Norton Antivirus where the script blocking feature is enabled. You can try disabling the Script Blocking but it will make your computer more vulnerable to malware. You can visit Symantec Web to get the updated version of Norton as well. The resolution is also achieved by disabling New-Mail notification in Outlook. This option is available on Tools menu. Hope it helped.

Fixing Reported Error 0x80004005 In Outlook.

When you use Microsoft Office Outlook, you may receive “Sending and receiving reported error “0x80004005” : The operation failed” when new email messages arrive in your inbox. The cause of the problem is your antivirus. This problem can happen if you have Norton antivirus on your computer with the script blocking feature enabled. To fix the problem, just disable script blocking in Norton antivirus.

According to Microsoft, this method is not recommended because it will cause your computer to be vulnerable to attacks by malicious users or malicious software like viruses. To disable script blocking, in Norton antivirus, turn off “Enable script blocking”. Another way is to disable the new email notification in Office Outlook. Start Office Outlook then click “Tools” and then “Options”.

In “Preferences” tab, under “E-mail” section, click “E-mail Options”.

On the next screen, uncheck “Display a notification message when new mail arrives” then click “OK” twice. See if this fixes the problem.
