Volume Control in Laptop Going Down

I am running a Windows XP PC with IDT HD Audio on my laptop. While using it, I noticed that when I turned the volume meter to the highest level, it will slowly decrease.  I searched for possible solutions in Google but most forums and articles are advising me to uninstall and re-install the sound drivers. I don't know much about computers and I don't want to make things worst so can someone please help me in resolving this issue?

I think you need to download the IDT HD Audio sound Drivers and install it.  I think there is no Rocket Scienctist in installing it. Any layman can do this and so you.  Just download the IDT HD Audio sound drivers.  Save it on your PC and click the installation file and follow the instructions on the screen and that's all.  Your Audio will be OK.

Good day,

You might need to update IDT HD Audio, Reset all settings to default.

Or 

uninstall it, and install it again.

Hi, Harry!

I agree with above comment but I would like to add some information.

As you have sound (you can hear it) you have sound drivers. Then

*Remove them. Go to System Properties => Device Manager => Sound, Video and Game controllers and remove your sound drivers;

*Look exactly what soundmap you have. For that you can use “Everest”. You can download it here:http://www.lavalys.com/support/downloads/;

*And download drivers for your soundmap and operating system from the producer’s website.

Installation of drivers is very simple. Just launch the installation file and click Next or Ok. And in the end reboot your operating system.

That’s it.

P.S. You can also check your PC for viruses. But I think the problem is with the drivers.
