Cannot open programs without task manager

Hi,

Not too long ago I received a message on my computer informing me that my computer was infected and that i should download and install a security application to remove the infections. I did download  and install the application. However, I found out later that the application was actually a fake. It was not a real antivirus nor security program.

Thankfully, I was able to remove the fake security application, but since then I am not able to open any programs. The only way I can open programs is by using the task manager.

I have also noticed that, i cannot install applications.

What can be the cause of this and how can it be solved?

I have Windows XP Professional installed on my computer.

Hi Blake Lewis,

I propose a simple and easy solution, all you need is the CD you used to install your system, five minutes of work and a little patience in reading my answer…

Before starting be sure that you put your CD system in the CD-player, next you have to use the task manager this time to run the command prompt (you launch your task manager and then you write “cmd” in the text zone and you validate), in the new window you will type  SFC/Scannow, , this should find the system files problems and then fix them automatically, good luck.

Cannot open programs without task manager

Hello dear,

It seems that your computer has been infected with a virus. You cannot run any programs when your Explorer.exe file is in use. You can see this file in C:WINDOWS.

So, your programs are only running with Task Manager. Scan your computer with latest antivirus software. I also suggest that you reinstall Windows. Thanks.
