Physical layer is the first layer of the OSI model. Physical layer is responsible for movement of individual bits from one node to another.

Physical layer deals with the mechanical and electrical specification of the interface and transmission medium.

Main concerned of physical layer

1. Physical characteristic of interface and medium.

2. Representation of bits.

3. Date rate (transmission rate – number of bits sent each second)

4. Synchronization of bits.

5. Line configuration- (connection of device to media)

6. Physical Topology

7. Transmission mode
