Forums or what was called bulletin boards are older than blogs. Each comment was organized in a “thread” and each discussion or “thread” can last up for months or even years. Forums are usually made up of members of like interests and have a moderator that coordinates or makes sure everybody follows the “forum rules” – as discussions can sometimes spark arguments.

A blog is more like a webpage but has built-in templates that you can customize according to your preferences. A blog is more personal, and can sometimes be more of like an online diary where you can post your thoughts and opinions on a variety of topics or a certain event. People can leave comments, like forums but forums involve more people and are more similar to a conversation compared to blogs.
