What is craigslist and what are the benefits?

A free website called Craigslist is used by most internet marketers to advertise their products. You could find for sale, discussion forums, community, housing, jobs, personals, services and almost everything except explicit material. You could also sell your boat or bicycle, post any job opportunities or find second hand furniture. That is a classified resource center. 

 

The advantages and benefits of Craigslist are as follows:

 

1. The sections are specific and there are different categories so that you can easily find what you are interested in and then email to that person.

2. The ads could be posted without cost. Companies and individuals can post ads for free. 

3. Craigslist has registered a high ranking in Alexa for many years and this is one of website that have the most visitors.

4. The ads could be posted in many cities.

5. The website has a minimalist style therefore it loads quickly, easy to navigate in slow connection.

 

To create a Craiglist account:

 

1. Go www.craigslist.org

2. On the home page, you can find a link of MY ACCOUNT on left-hand side.

3. A new page will appear. You can find ’Sign up for an account’ under Login box and choose those.

4. Fill in your email address then type in the verification word of captcha. CREATE ACCOUNT choose.

5. Craigslist then will email you a confirmation. Confirm it. You have opened a Craigslist account and registered user.

Craiglist provides online classified advertisement with many sections e.g. Discussion forums, community, services, for sale, housing, jobs etc for free. It is an online community with centralized network. 

 

This service began in 1995 and was an email distribution list of friends of Craig Newmark providing the events in the San Francisco Bay Area locally. In 1996, the service became web-based, classified and expanded into different categories. In 2000, Craiglist expanded to other cities in the U.S. and covered 50 countries across whole world.

 

The ads could be posted for free on Craiglist, except some ads e.g. Therapeutic/ professional services, job posting in large cities, e.g. Chicago/ Los Angeles etc.

 

And apartments for sale /rent in NYC, etc. The sellers could retain all profits.
