Unable to Launch Selected pcAnywhere Host

We recently had all our people install Windows 7 and pcAnywhere. As awesome as that is, many of us experienced an error like this: "Unable to launch the selected pcAnywhere host because another pcAnywhere host is running". Although after we got rid of the error, everything went back to normal, but It would be great if any of you can explain why it was there in the first place. Have a great day and thanks a bunch.

Hi Jeff Feinberg,

I am glad that you were able to get rid of the error. The error occurs because there is a conflict between the windows service and the Symantec management agent (fighting who gets seated next to the driver sort of scenario). They try to start at the same time that is why you were getting that error. The work around is to set the service to manual by going to services.msc. It is a known issue and the developers are already actively seeking a permanent result in this case.

I hope I was able to help you with your question Jeff!

Sincerely,

Paul Pinalb
