Please help me on my MS Queries set up.

I have MS Queries set up through ODBC from XP and other 32-bit clients but do not work on Windows 7 or Server 2008.

I get the following errors: Unable to get data item Dict Name: USER [Microsoft] [ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed.

Can you help me find a solution?

Ellisa,

First check the configuration of your ODBC driver. It depends upon the configure of your ODBC driver. Then check the connection string. Connection string depends upon the application you most query in. If its excel and ms query. You have to be able to right click in the resultset and select table or query and then external data properties. In one of the tabs, of this window, you will find the connection string. Then change the connection string to a working DSN. Here are the generic rules in connecting a connection string that will work. These are adapted by most drivers and provider. But that this varies, and it depends upon the driver and every situation:

1. Connect string must be given in double quotes, without any spaces between the first equal sign and the double quote, that if the connect string contains semicolon (;).

2. You can also use %s as a placeholder to mark where the username and password should appear and that is if the connect string needs to include the username and password for the backend database.

I hope this help you.
