I'm attempting to watch my recordings but I am facing an error on Microsoft Expression Encoder 4. It says I need a codec to continue. I want to know if someone can send me the exact link on where I can get the required codec. Thanks.

Normally, when installing a program that has a requirement for a particular codec, it is always if not most of the time included in the package and will automatically be installed together with the program. But here, I’m not sure what happened or maybe installing the codec is really optional.

But anyway, since it requires you to install the codec, download and install Microsoft Expression Encoder Screen Capture Codec. This codec requires Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. Also, for Windows XP users, you need to update Windows Media Player to version 11. Once installed, try restarting what you are doing.

In case plainly installing the codec didn’t help, try uninstalling it again as well as Microsoft Expression Encoder 4. Once both programs are removed, click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then select Disk Cleanup. Select drive C and click OK. Check “Temporary files” and then click OK to clean your hard drive. Once finished, restart your computer.

Install Microsoft Expression Encoder Screen Capture Codec first followed by Microsoft Expression Encoder 4. You may also try upgrading to Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 Service Pack 2. It supports Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.
