Hello there!

When you download the Microsoft Security Essentials, you have to first know simple important stuffs. First, check if you are running a Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 with a 32-bit or a 64-bit operating environment. Remember that you have to be logged on in Windows as Administrator.

Hi,

First of all, you need to ensure you are logged in as administrator;

After logon, go to start-control panel to open the MSE settings.

Once you open the control panel in MSE settings, go to update settings and select manual update.

After selecting the manual update you can go to this link:

And then click on this website

After downloading the application, you can run it and install. When the update file runs, a file extraction dialog box appears. The dialog box indicates that the definition update is installing. After the file extraction dialog box closes, you can verify that the virus and spyware definitions have been updated. To do this, open Microsoft Security Essentials, click Update, and then examine the virus and spyware definitions status.

But if your machine is disconnected from the internet, you are still protected against viruses that can be identified until your last virus definitions update. If your computer is not always connected to the internet, you can download the latest virus definitions and install it offline.

The following are the latest virus definitions update for Microsoft Security Essentials. Download the version specific to your platform:

• Microsoft Security Essentials 32-bit – this is for 32-bit Windows Vista and higher.
• Microsoft Security Essentials 64-bit – this is for 64-bit Windows Vista and higher.

If you need to download MSE again, download Microsoft Security Essentials and install it.
