Hello,

I installed Modern Warfare on my laptop today, but when I tried to play the game this error cut all my dreams of playing. I don’t know how can be solved this error, the only thing that I did was to reinstall the game hoping to solve it, no chance. Is any expert online and can help me to fix this error? Can I prevent this happening in the future with other games?

Thank you!

Because you are trying to play the original version of Call of Duty, there is a slight problem if you’ll be playing it on Microsoft Windows Vista and later. This is probably the reason why the game is throwing a DLL error upon launching of the game. The game “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare” supports Windows 98, Windows Millennium, Windows 2000, and Windows XP.

That’s why if you are using an operating system higher than Microsoft Windows XP, you won’t be able to play it. But anyway, try running it under compatibility mode for Windows XP. Right-click on the game shortcut and select Properties. Select Compatibility tab, under “Compatibility mode”, check “Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select Windows XP from the dropdown list. Click OK then start the game. See if this works.

As an alternative, because you are running Microsoft Windows Vista and higher, you can play “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2”. This is your best option instead of the one you have. “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” supports Windows XP, Windows vista, and Windows 7. Operating systems earlier than Microsoft Windows XP are no longer supported.
