I have recently purchased an apple iPod. I was putting songs into it, i have most of my songs in .FLAC format, but iPod was showing format error in transferring those songs into it using latest version of iTunes. Is there any method I could transfer these songs to iPod? I am very fond of listening to music and I can't survive even for a minute without music. Please help.

I guess you have a real problem because the FLAC audio format is not supported on iPod. Even if you are using iTunes to transfer the music files, you are using it to copy the files instead of converting them first into a compatible format. You can use iTunes to convert your songs into iPod supported audio formats.

The following are the supported audio formats for iPod:

  • AAC [M4A, M4B, or M4P encoded up to 320 kbps]
  • MP3 [encoded up to 320 kbps]
  • MP3 encoded with Variable Bit Rate [VBR]
  • WAV
  • AA [audible spoken word with the following supported formats: 2, 3, and 4]

In case your FLAC audio files can’t be converted using iTunes, use a different audio converter to convert the files. You can use ImTOO MPEG Encoder to convert your audio files. Once all the FLAC files are converted to any of the supported formats, transfer the songs to your iPod using iTunes. Also, if you haven’t updated your iTunes yet, download and install iTunes 12.0.1.
