Error 1600 on Downgrading iPod Touch iOS 5.1.1 to 5.0.1

Hello experts,

HELP!! I've been trying to downgrade my iPod touch 4g IOS 5.1.1 to IOS 5.0.1 and this happens every time.

I restore it (shift click restore) and after waiting, it says "THE IPOD COULD NOT BE RESTORED. AN UNKNOWN ERROR OCCURRED (1600).

I Have been researching how to fix this problem, but it just keeps doing it all over and over and over again.

So basically, I just had enough dealing with it. I don't know what else to do.

So, PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Thanks so much.

Hello Chris,

To resolve that issue, you will need to get iTunes Restore Error Bypasser, which is tool that will help you fix these errors.

  • First you will need to download iREB, and then you will launch iTunes.
  • After that you will place the iPhone in DFU mode – you can do that by holding power and home button together for about 10 seconds.
  • After that release the power button and then keep holding the home button till iTunes says it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.
  • After that you will need to close iTunes and then launch iREB.
  • Select your device and then hold on for the screen to go red or white.
  • Once that is done, you will launch iTunes and then hold the SHIFT key while clicking on restore.
  • A window will come up, and then you will browse for the custom firmware you want to restore to.

Regards,

Carl
