Hello Mitzi,

I have read your concern regarding your new iPod. As you were saying, there are only 2 songs inside but it tells you that its memory is already full and you wanted to know why and how to fix it. Is it right?

There are many same cases as yours when they started using an iPod for the first time after the purchase. Actually, the first thing you should do when using a new gadget is to reformat it, so that the settings will be restored to its factory settings then you can start uploading file to it. The restore button will wipe out all your data and will bring it back to factory settings in which there will be no pictures, music or other data. If you haven’t done this yet, then you should. Since there are only two songs inside, you can start immediately the restore function unless you wanted to save important files from your iPod first. After saving the necessary files, check whether the iPod is still full or not. If done, you connect to iTunes and locate the “Restore Factory Settings” to reformat the disk. After the reformat, Sync the iPod.

I hope I am in the right track of understanding your concern and give you a hand to fix the problem. I hope this information is of good help.

Regards,

Mali

I think you only got mistaken and may not be aware that your device is already almost full even before you actually added two songs to it. This happens maybe because your newly-bought iPod is already pre-loaded with songs that you are not aware of. It would be best to check the device’s remaining storage space before actually adding more songs to it so you will not be confused when problems like this happens and so you can also check the number of songs pre-loaded to it.

If you are sure that your device is empty and doesn’t come pre-loaded with any songs when you purchased it, you may reformat its storage to regain the lost space. Reformatting it doesn’t affect the whole device and will only clear its storage drive. Even if you reformatted the iPod’s storage, you will still be able to put the two songs you purchased from iTunes because all songs purchased under your iTunes account will remain in your account even if you deleted it from your device.

Fantastic solutions guys, thanks from the core of my heart. I was really upset and stumbled on the way about my problems as well I could not diagnose my problem. Marienade Mali, your explanation was good but it seems to me a little obscure, but Sharath, for understanding your solution, I think it was an Aladin’s magic lamp or the magic wand for me. Your recommended was to check the device’s remaining storage space although it was empty. Abiding your advice, I have reformatted its storage to recover the missing space and you are right now I am able to put my two songs my purchased from iTunes. Now, I’d hear these two songs and it make me feel relaxed. Thanks Sharath, for right tracking of understanding my concern and for giving me a hand to fix the problem.
