I have Intel LGA1366 processor and want to upgrade to Core i7. Will my motherboard compatible with the newer one? If not, then which are the compatible processors for my motherboard?
How To Know Which Are The Compatible Processors For My Motherboard?
To find out the compatible processors for your motherboard, you have to look after these four things:
A. Manufacturer Compatibility: If you are changing from Intel to AMD or vice-versa then, your motherboard will not be compatible with the newer one since they both are different from a hardware point of view.
B. Physical socket compatibility: Different processors require different sockets and so your LGA1366 socket will not be compatible with Corei7 LGA2011 socket processor.
C. Memory Compatibility: Since latest computers use DDR3 memory so, the newer processors might not be compatible if you have a computer with DDR2 memory as both can’t be a mix in motherboard and uses different sockets for installation.
D. Chipset Compatibility: At last, you need to make sure that your chipset supports the features of your motherboard so that the CPU can maintain its transfer rate.
