I use windows XP in my computer and  my computer connected with a local network so I would like to change my computer name with workgroup.

So when I logged in as a administrator how I can change my computer name with workgroup?

This is quite easy to do. You can do it in just 2 minutes. Follow the given procedure step by step:

1.      Open control panel from taskbar

2.      Click on system icon

3.      A new window appears labeled as system properties

4.      Click on computer name button

5.      Click on change button

6.      A new window appears labeled computer name changes

7.      Enter the computer name you want

8.      Enter the workgroup you want

9.      Click Ok and exit

10.  Now restart your computer

Remember everything will change after you restart your computer. And it’s done. Hope it works well.

If for whatever reason you need (or want) to change your computer name (or Workgroup),

Follow the instructions outlined below, and you’ll be done in no time ..

  1. Close all applications and ensure that you are logged in with Administrator privileges
  2. Click Start then select the Control Panel
  3. Click Performance And Maintenance
  4. Click System
  5. Click on the Computer Name tab. Here the current Computer Name and Workgroup are displayed
  6. To change the Computer Name or the Workgroup, click Change
  7. Enter a name for your computer in the Computer Name field
  8. Enter a name for your Workgroup in the Workgroup field
  9. Click OK
  10. If you changed your Workgroup name, a window will welcome you to the new Workgroup
  11. Click OK
  12. When a window prompts you to restart the computer, click OK
