I prefer to use Open Office Org’s software more than using Microsoft Office or any other software like it.. After a time I noticed an error message when I try to open a file. The message looks like the following:
“Error loading BASIC of document 20 and %20 Settings/HOME/Application %20 Data/OpenOffice.org/3/user /basic/dialog.xlc/: General Error: General input/output error."
I want to understand what the message actually means, what I should do in order to solve this problem. Can somebody tell me or give me a step-by-step solution for this problem? Please help me with this, I will be grateful to you for all the help.

According OOo user guide:-
This type of error message indicates that the files script.xlc and dialog.xlc,
could be missing or corrupted.
For solving this problem follow the steps as given below:-
1)try exiting OpenOffice.org (including the Quickstarter, if any)
2)copy these from the directory <where_OOo_is_installed>/presets/basic/ under *NIX,
to $HOME/.openoffice.org2/user/basic
or, under Windows, from C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org <release>\presets\basic
to C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\OpenOffice.org <release>\user\basic
NOTE:- This all work must be done in a safe way otherwise as a penalty for doing this
is that it is possible to lose all personal settings and customizations.
