Error 72, Failed to Initialize GameMon?

I have a game called Grand Chase. It has a specific day for upgrading.

And I have made sure to update weekly on the given day. So I’m confident that this game should work properly.

However, this error has occurred suddenly :


Error 72

Failed to initialize GameMon.

Please restart your computer and try again.

I did restart my pc, but the error remains. I have played this game for months before this.

Hi Charlesjustin, your errors happened because from some of these problems:

1] Your DirectX still not update. this game need newer DirectX for your PC

2] Your antivirus seems blocking your game. Maybe some of update of your antivirus make your game blocked. From this forum, the Threatfire antivirus was blocking GrandChase game. In Avast! forum, these antivirus block this game too. Or maybe another antivirus had block your game too.
The only way to resolve your problem causes from antivirus, you need to uninstall your antivirus….But without your antivirus, your PC would be in danger from attack of malware and viruses. I'm not suggest you to uninstall, but you better try to unblock your game in your antivirus settings. 

if it still block your game after you unblock your game in your av settings, I suggest you to play on public computer, rather on your home PC, to avoid virus and malware harm you PC. We don't want take a risk of damage in your PC because of virus/malware, don't you? 🙂

Error 72, Failed to Initialize GameMon?


Had you ever done the updating of the application before? If that is the first time you are doing the updating of the application and it is not successful then the problem may be due to the following:

  • The remote server you are trying to update the game application from may be having problems, and therefore you will need to wait for some time and then try again.
  • You may also need to check and make sure that your internet connection does not have problems since for the update to be made, the application has to go online and download the latest packages and install them.
  • In case the problem persists, you may need to contact the customer support and tell them you issue. They may help resolve it.
