How secure can our files be when we get unlimited online storage space? I have been thinking of getting an unlimited online storage space as I've heard that it has no limit on storage space and is easily accessibility for someone who is mostly online? But the talk of files being secured is one main concern, will there be harm or a possibility that those online files will be shared without the owner's consent?
Concerns on getting an unlimited online storage space
Online file storage or cloud storage companies employ tight security for the files that you upload. They encrypt your files in a way that makes it impossible for intruders to access them. They also use high-end antivirus and antimalware software to ensure that your online files do not get infected with viruses or other malicious software.
If you will be using an online storage system, make sure you get it from a respected vendor. Read through the vendor's agreement form before you proceed with setting up an online storage. Your files should not be shared to others without your consent, otherwise they will face legal consequences.
You will also need to do your part in making sure that your online files are secure. Here are some tips you should follow.
1) As much as possible, access your online files from a limited number of computers. This will decrease the chance that someone might gain access to your username and password.
2) Do not forget to log off from the online storage after you have accessed your files.
3) Use hard-to-guess passwords. Never use your name, your birthday, or any other personal information as your password. Passwords should contain at least one special character and a capital letter.
4) Never share your username and password to anybody.
