Hi,

I have installed avast on Fedora, Genotoo, Sabayon, Ubuntu 11 and 12.04, But whenever I try to use it, I’m getting an error message : “Invalid Argument” or root@localhost avast, or root@localhoste avast is unable to initialize avast engine. There is no such directory. Can this error be fixed?

Please give me simple instructions to fix it.

Hello April Rosas!

The first thing you need to do is to navigate to the Avast directory. There are two ways to do it.

Using Terminal

Open your Terminal and type “cd .avast” (without quotes).

You will see a file named “400.vps” and remove this file using this command “rm 400.vps”. (You may need to use “sudo” command do remove the file).

Using Explorer

Go to your “home” directory and hit “Ctrl+H”. You will see a .avast folder.

Open the folder and delete the 400.vps.
