This error comes when you previously tried to update the window but were unsuccessful in the attempt. Or can be caused due to incomplete files, corrupt files, wrong registries, some system related software change. Maybe, due to virus or malware infection that has corrupted Windows system files. Check all the recent third party software you installed might have caused it. A partially working antivirus can also be held guilty for it as it may allow some viruses to make changes in some windows files.

It can be solved in many ways. Try following the steps-

1. Open the Windows Update Troubleshooter from the Control panel troubleshooter menu.

2. Try checking if the problem is resolved. Also, look for your antivirus software; make sure every option is correctly set.
