I have a home network consisting of a Windows XP Home computer, HP PSC 950 printer, 4 in 1 printer and Netgear router. I am trying to connect my laptop with the printer in the network. On running the network setup, the printer sharing option is disabled. How can I solve the issue and connect the printer to the laptop?

Hi Sheena,

Is the laptop a separate computer from your Windows XP Home computer?

If it is, you need to first make sure that your printer sharing is enabled on the main computer on the network. You can share the printer by going to Printer and Faxes > Right click on the printer you wanted to share > Sharing > Share this Printer.

Once the printer is shared, you would then need to make sure that the laptop is a member and part of the workgroup. You can add them by going to the Systems properties and add it to the workgroup. After adding the laptop, you should be able to add and connect to the printer.
