I have tried to fix the broken DHCP client in the DNS server by manually loading resolv.conf file. However the file is automatically replaced every lease renewal. How can I resolve the issue? Please help.
DHCP client in the DNS server
If DHCP is not working, you can as well use static IP addresses. You can as well try the following resolution:
-
On your computer you will need to open Windows Explorer;
-
And then you will need to navigate to the %Windir%System32Drivers folder.
-
You will need to make sure that the following files are present in that folder: afd.sys, tcpip.sys and netbt.sys
In case there is one or more of the above driver files missing, then you will need to extract them from the Windows XP CD-ROM, or you can also get them from the ServicePackFilesi386 folder and extract them from there. Just check which one of them is the latest version and extract from there.
