Hello Raymond,
The problem  you facing "Error 0x80096002" is very generic error. It causes due to number of different issues like some program blocking installation of updates or windows update might be corrupted. To fix this problem use Microsoft Troubleshooter. Download Microsoft fix it and RUN it. If this doesn’t work then perform system restore. Press and hold windows flag button and Letter R button together at the same time. RUN box will open. You need to type "rstrui.exe", system restore will open. And follow the instruction. If it doesn't help then insert Windows 8 DVD and perform start up repair.
Thank you.

It seems that you need to enable the Windows Identify Foundation for your Windows 8. Try these steps to solve this problem:

1. Hover to the right side of the screen to display the charms bar.
2. Click or tap the Search icon then type "windows features".
3. Select the option Settings.
4. Click “Turn Windows features on or off”.
5. Select the checkbox beside “Windows Identity Foundation 3.5”.

6. Click or tap OK to save the changes.

Make sure also that you have the most updated version of Flash by going to the Adobe Flash site.

This problem happens when you start a program you downloaded especially for installers. Installer files or setup files are normally signed by their respective developers before they are offered as downloads. If an installer contains an invalid certificate like for example if the certificate has expired, you will be prompted with a message.

But since the installer you downloaded is from Microsoft, your operating system prevented it from getting launched because of the invalid certificate. If the installer you intend to download is a Windows Update, try downloading the offline installer again and then install it. See if it works. If you verify that the installer is from Microsoft or you downloaded it directly from Microsoft, run the setup file as administrator.

Right-click on the Windows Update installer and select “Run as administrator.” See if it works.
