Hello,

Some specific file in my drive F: is causing me trouble. The application's size is 1.08 GB, but it never opens. Though I don’t want that file there; so I need to delete it.

The hard part is: I can't delete it.

If I right-click on the file, Windows Explorer crashes. If I try to use the Delete key, Windows Explorer crashes.

An error produced in these situations:

Problem Event Name: AppHangB1
Application Name: explorer.exe
Application Version: 6.0.6002.18005
Application Timestamp: 49e01da5
Hang Signature: 423b

When I try to move the file to the Recycle bin (or anywhere else beyond its containing folder), Windows Explorer crashes.

This file is just taking up space on my drive and I need to get rid of it.

Any solution will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Look for some missing files on your computer system, there might be a chance that they are still stored on your system. Maybe they are in a different location or folder.

Ok, the thing is here you can't delete a file when you are in windows explorer or if you do that the windows explorer crashes.

The thing you have to do is delete that file without the help of the windows explorer.

Press Ctrl + ALT + Del to enter the task manager, now go to the process tab and then right click on the explorer.exe and then click on end process. Now you can see everything disappeared and only the task manager and your desktop background remain now click on applications tab and then select new task.

Now you can see a window appears. After that click on browse and then you can see your files, now go to your file which you want to delete and then right click and delete now you don't have windows explorer running so no hangs.

I have attached a screenshot to help you.

Windows Task Manager

If it didn't work means just search in Google for some 3rd party forced deleting tools and delete it.

Hope that helps.
