Hello,

Bumps or accidental drops can affect laptop LCDs severely sometimes. Harm can range from just a loose connection with permanent damage to of the LCD.

  • Loose cable connections: you are lucky if it is just a loose connection, it can be fixed by re-fixing the connections completely. It will clean the oxidation as well, if any.
  • Debris/dust: Laptops exposed to food, dust, moistures etc. all the time. Cleaning regime helps to maintain an efficient working of the machine. It can be done by simple wiping or a use of compressed air can very easily.
  • Hardware or Software failure: If still problem persist, then problem may be because of circumstantial failures. One of the major reasons is an open circuit connection between the LCD glass and driver IC. In this case you should seek a help from authorized technician.

I hope this will help you.

I’m sorry but there is no easy solution to this that an ordinary user like you can do manually to fix the problem on the LCD of your laptop. If the machine got a hard bump on the wall that resulted to the LCD getting vertical lines, the only solution I see is to replace the laptop’s LCD screen.

The LCD screen is physically damaged and those vertical lines you see can’t be fixed and removed. The only solution to this so you can use your laptop again is to bring it to a qualified service technician and replace the laptop’s LCD screen. Next time, make sure not to press too much on the side of the screen of your laptop because that’s the most sensitive part.
