I was buying some accessories for my computer and came across an anti static mat. But I cannot understand its use. Why is anti static mat for computer important?

Why Is Anti Static Mat For Computer Important?

The short answer is no. It’s not too important to have an anti static mat. Your computer isn’t in danger if you don’t use an anti static mat, but it’s still good to invest in one, for a few reasons.
First and probably the most important reason is peace of mind. Anti static mats will provide complete protection from any kind of short circuiting.
Second is that it doesn’t cause any harm by being there. Apart from making your pocket lighter, of course.
That being said, many computer service people will tell you they have not used it ever and have never run into any problems. So, it’s really up to you.
