I need to print bunch of PDF files. The margins are fine but every time it prints out, it turns out to be smaller than the original size. How can I configure the settings for this correctly? I notice that this only happens when printing PDF files. Other files prints well. Kindly please suggest some solutions. Thanks.

Printing a PDF file is usually smaller. And that is because of the margins. You can be able to fix it depending on the PDF file or the capabilities of your printer. A PDF file is usually the same paper size as 8.5 x 11 or an A4 sized paper. When you print a typical 8.5 x 11 PDF file, it seems to work fine but it's not. The problem is that some printers could not be able to print on the whole sheet of paper. There will be a margin on the outer brink that will change based on your printer. It is commonly around 1/4 inch. The outcome should be a printer can only print on the area that is slightly smaller than a full 8.5 x 11.

You have two choices to print:

1. You can actually print your document (8.5 x 11) directly to your 8.5 x 11 paper and take the possibility of cutting off from view the rIms of the PDF contents.

2. Resize the 8.5 x 11 document to a size that can fit on the printable area on your 8.5 x 11 paper. Take a look on the image below:

The images are the before and after of the resized document.

You should look for the Zoom option or the Page Scaling option in your PDF Viewer. The default value of the Page Scaling is "Fit to Printable Area". You can also zoom it To 97%. Now, you can be able to print the PDF file without needing to resize it since it has margins of its own.

Just change the value of Page Scaling to "None", and you will notice that the Zoom value will reset to 100% and your PDF reader will try the no scaling. It will just print the 8.5 x 11 document to 8.5 x 11 paper.

Since the PDF documents are in size (8.5”X 11”) as a full paper size (most likely A4 size) and it is not possible for printer whole of a page through a computer printer, thus the printing size turn into smaller than the original size.

To get the original printing size you can download a free PDF printer and use it for converting PDF with doPDF.

Just follow the below steps for print a PDF file:

Open the document that you want to convert to a PDF file)

Once opened, click on File -> Print and select doPDF from the Printers list convert to a PDF file

Click on Print and choose a location for your PDF file

Hope this will help to print PDF files in original size.
