I have problem with the Master Boot Record. When I try to run d:i386winnt32.exe /cmdcons, I get a message saying that the system is newer than the CD’s and is not allowing installation.
Is there anything that I can do? Please help me solve this problem. Thanks.
Why does Master Boot Record not allow installation?
This problem shows that you cannot run a version of winnt32.exe. It is might be on computers that have a windows XP or Windows XP Service pack 2.
Actually a newer version of winnt32.exe is detected by Windows XP that is on either of the previous CDs. There are three following possible solution to resolve this problem.
-
Click on Start and type CD drive letteri386winnt32.exe/cmdcons in Run, and press enter
-
Another solution is that before the installation of Windows XP SP2, Install the Recover Console. And then Install Windows XP SP2.
-
Or you can create a windows XP SP2 installation folder.
-
Then Click on Start and type Folderpathi386winnt32.exe/cmdcons in Run and press enter.
-
Folderpath is the drive and folder name where you create Windows XP SP 2 installation folder.
-
By clicking “Yes” confirm the installation process when you asked. Now restart the Computer "Microsoft Windows Recovery Console" will appear on the startup menu when you restart your Computer.
