Which is better between GSM and CDMA?

The two mobile communication systems (GSM system and CDMA system) are generally used. But I don’t know which is better between them? Please explain about GSM and CDMA and tell me which one I shall choose.

Which is better between GSM and CDMA?

GSM means "Global System for Mobile Communication". CDMA means "Code Division Multiple Access". They both are different technologies for cellular. The major difference between GSM and CDMA is that;

In GSM, entire frequency band is not available to the end user. The entire frequency band is divided into chunks and each chunk is divided into time slots and such each portion is made available to the user.

While in CDMA, entire frequency band is available to end user. The transmission from each user is spread or coded using an unique code given to individual user. At the receiving end, the sent information is decoded.

GSM and CDMA Technologies can be explained with an example. Suppose there are 10 people in a room and they want to communicate with each other. How can they communicate?

Method1: One Person speaks at one time that means we have provided a definite time interval to that person. It is GSM.

Method 2: All the people speak at a same time in a different  language which we call as CDMA.

Hello there Mahiceiu,

When we talk about these two mobile communication systems, we must first consider in which place you are using it, because if it is within USA then the  mobile system that is more appropriate for you is CDMA. However, if you are situated in the uphill or mountainous area of USA and no network coverage for CDMA then, GSM suits best for you.

Finally, we discuss GLOBALLY –   the GSM are far better than CDMA because this GSM has roaming abilities.
