I just upgraded my RAM from 2 GB to 4 GB.  The problem is, it will now only boot up to DOS only.  Where can I find MemTest DOS download?  I have Windows XP 32 bit sp2.  Thanks in advance.

MemTestDos is a very important and powerful software that detects memory failure and automatically solves the problem.

It is supported in all versions of Windows.

You can download it directly from the official site here.

You can also download it from Softpedia. Download the Memtest86 V4.20 from Softpedia.

Download and enjoy it.

Hello,

If you can't boot your operating system normally after upgrading RAM, then probably your motherboard can't support that amount of RAM, or your RAM module is damaged.  To find out if your RAM module is damaged you can use any Linux distribution with Live CD options, since such distributions have MemTest included.  I hope I helped.  Regards.

I think what you mean by “boot up to DOS only” is the BIOS part during the POST test. If you’ve upgraded your computer’s physical RAM from 2 GB into 4 GB, try removing all memory modules from the memory slot then turn on the CPU. This should trigger a series of beeps from the CPU which means no RAM is installed.

Memory module

The motherboard will not operate if no memory modules are installed aside from the processor. If either of these two is missing, the CPU will trigger a series of beeps which indicates that a required device is missing from the motherboard and it cannot run. Starting the CPU with no memory modules inserted will normally reset the amount of RAM installed on the BIOS.

Also, resetting the memory is often required when upgrading the physical memory of your computer. This problem also happens to me whenever I disconnect the memory modules from my motherboard.
