When the user tries to remove the file from the external hard drive, and the directory is not empty in the system, then error code 0x80070091 appears on the computer screen. The corruption in the file causes the prompt error.

Solution 1: Safe mode Booting

Step 1: Hold Windows key+ R, then type ‘msconfig’ and press the OK button.

Step 2: Click on the Boot tab and select Safe boot. Ensure that the settings have been changed by clicking on the “Apply” and “OK” buttons.

Step 3: Restart the system and press F8 while the computer starts.

Step 4: Now, select “Safe Mode with Networking” and let the process run to resolve the problem.

Step 5: Remove the “Safe Boot” checkbox that was added in option 2.
